Former second gentleman Doug Emhoff was praised online Sunday by his wife Kamala Harris, among others, to ring in Father’s Day.
“Happy Father’s Day to all of the fathers, stepfathers, uncles, godfathers, grandfathers, and friends who raise us with pride, joy, and endless laughter,” the former vice president wrote on X Sunday. “And to @DouglasEmhoff, my best friend and a wonderful dad: Thank you for everything you do for our family. We love you.”

Harris’s post included a photo of Emhoff with his two children, Cole and Ella from years earlier, long before she married Emhoff in 2014. The post was seconded by his first wife Kerstin Emhoff.
“I second this Happy Father’s Day @DouglasEmhoff !” Kerstin Emhoff wrote to her former husband.
Emhoff’s daughter Ella also shared a photo of herself, her brother Cole, and their father from years ago to her Instagram story. The photo did not include a caption.

The former first gentleman is alleged to have cheated on his first wife and the mother of his two children around 2008 with his daughter’s nanny. He allegedly impregnated the nanny who also worked as his daughter’s grade school teacher. The nanny reportedly accused him of causing her to have a miscarriage and he paid her a settlement of around $80,000.
Emhoff opted to praise his own father online.

“Happy #FathersDay to all the dads out there — especially my dad, Mike. He’s my role model and my hero,” Emhoff captioned a photo of the two together. “I still can’t beat him at billiards, bocce, or putting. He taught me how to drive a stick — and how to stick up for myself, my family, and for what’s right. Love you, Dad.”
Since last November when Harris lost the 2024 presidential election, Emhoff became a partner at the law firm Willkie Farr and Gallagher, which has offices in New York City. The couple has an apartment on the Upper West Side and in Los Angeles, California. Additionally, they own a home in Brentwood, California.
