Former President Donald Trump's motion to move the New York criminal case against him to federal court will be heard next month.

A federal Judge in New York, Alvin Hellerstein, scheduled the hearing for Trump's bid for June 27. Trump's lawyers filed to have the case moved from state court on May 4, saying that "the case involves important federal questions since the indictment charges President Trump for conduct committed while he was president of the United States."

JURY ORDERS TRUMP TO PAY $5M IN DAMAGES TO CARROLL FOR BATTERY AND DEFAMATION

Trump has plead not guilty to 34 felony counts of falsifying business records related to hush money payments made during his 2016 campaign to conceal allegations that he had an affair with porn star Stormy Daniels. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's case accuses Trump of orchestrating a “catch and kill” scheme during the 2016 presidential cycle to bury negative stories about him.

The case is scheduled to begin early next year, with Trump and Bragg's office being ordered to pick a trial date last week.

In Hellerstein's order, the judge made clear that "proceedings may continue in the Supreme Court of the State of New York, New York County," while Trump's motion waits to be heard in court.

Bragg's office has until June 15 to respond to Trump's motion.

Bragg's case against Trump in New York is one of many against the former president. On Tuesday, Trump was ordered to pay E. Jean Carroll $5 million in damages after a jury unanimously found him responsible for sexual abuse and defamation after she accused him of raping her in New York in the mid-1990s.

The jury did not Trump liable for rape.
