Former President Donald Trump's initial court appearance for his federal indictment on charges related to his alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 election has been set.

The former president has been summoned to appear before Magistrate Judge Moxila A. Upadhyaya at a courthouse in Washington, D.C., on Thursday at 4 p.m.

Trump was indicted on four counts, conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding, and conspiracy against rights, by a grand jury in the nation's capital after an investigation by special counsel Jack Smith.
