Former President Donald Trump appeared Thursday at a fundraiser for supporters charged in connection with the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the United States Capitol.
The event was hosted at Trump's private golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, in an effort to raise money for the rioters charged with a variety of crimes for their participation in the riot. A number of rioters broke into the Capitol, and some made their way into the offices of several lawmakers.

“You have police officers, you have firemen, you have teachers, you have electricians, you have great people, and they’ve been made to pay a price — in many cases, not all cases,” Trump said of the rioters. The former president, who is currently running to be the 2024 Republican nominee, went on to lament voting procedures in various states that make it "easy to cheat."
“I’m going to make a contribution,” Trump announced to a room of applause. It is unclear how much the event raised Thursday.
This comes a little over a week since Reps. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) Lauren Boebert (R-CO), Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), Ralph Norman (R-SC), Paul Gosar (R-AZ), and Troy Nehls (R-TX) held a House hearing with Jan. 6 defendants and family members to detail allegations of abuse of power from the government.

Trump previously made a campaign stop in New Hampshire, where Micki Larson-Olson, who was sentenced to six months in prison following her arrest on Jan. 6, 2021, greeted him. In a video, others at the diner were heard introducing her to Trump as "a Jan sixer." The former president then singled her out and told her to "hang in there." He also posed for a picture with her and embraced her.
The Trump campaign did not respond to the Washington Examiner's request for comment.
