Despite his drop in popularity, Trump ranks highly among registered Republican and Republican-leaning voters, 47% of whom said they support him when stacked against the other 2024 GOP presidential election candidates. Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) comes in second place with a 26% approval rating.
The remaining runner-ups remain in the single digits, per the survey’s results. The first GOP presidential debate is set for Aug. 23, nine days after the first court date for Trump's classified documents trial.

Additionally, the poll revealed its respondents were almost divided in their opinions of Trump’s conduct. Fifty-four percent of respondents said his behavior did not matter as long as he was an effective leader, and 46%, who value character more over effectiveness, said his behavior did matter in the long run.
The recent poll was conducted from June 13 to June 17 with a sample size of 1,350 respondents and a margin of error of 3.4 percentage points.
