MSNBC host Rachel Maddow said former President Donald Trump’s first comments following his arraignment in New York City lacked “newsworthy” value.

On Tuesday, Trump was charged with 34 counts of business fraud related to alleged 2016 hush money payments. The former president pleaded not guilty to all of the charges.

Maddow told viewers the network would not be airing the speech.

“As far as we can tell, and what we are prepared for here is, this is basically a campaign speech in which he is repeating his same lies and allegations against his perceived enemies,” Maddow said. “It is just getting started. So far, he is just giving his normal list of grievances.”

“We don’t consider that necessarily newsworthy, and there is a cost to us as a news organization of knowingly broadcasting untrue things,” she added.

Maddow noted that the network would continue to “monitor” Trump’s remarks in the event he “does say anything newsworthy.”

The MSNBC host then turned to the panel of liberal commentators joining her to discuss the former president’s arraignment and the indictment’s unsealing of charges.

In contrast, Fox News carried Trump’s speech in its entirety, while CNN broadcast the majority of it before cutting away at the end.

In his speech, Trump appeared defiant, saying he "never thought anything like this could happen in America.”

Trump told supporters gathered Tuesday at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida, that “the only crime I have committed is to fiercely defend our nation from those who seek to destroy it."
