CNN hosts Poppy Harlow and Kaitlan Collins began their CNN This Morning show Tuesday acknowledging Don Lemon’s departure.
“As you may have heard yesterday, CNN parted ways with anchor Don Lemon,” Harlow said, reading CNN CEO Chris Licht’s words that thanked Lemon and noted he “will forever be a part of the CNN family.”

CNN This Morning opened its show with a new graphic that only featured Harlow and Collins’s names, dropping Lemon’s.
“Don was a big part of the show over the last six months,” Collins noted. “He was one of the first anchors on CNN to have me on his show. That’s something I’ll obviously never forget.”
In wishing Lemon well, Harlow added that the former CNN host was one of her first friends on the network.
“I’m so thankful to have worked alongside him and for his support for nearly 15 years here, and I wish him all good things ahead. Kaitlan and I are really proud of this show. We are so proud of the dedicated team that works around the clock to bring you the news every morning, and our priority is you, the viewer, who gratefully welcomes us into your home each morning.”
Collins agreed and affirmed, “We want to keep the focus on the news,” before moving into the show’s content.
Lemon tweeted that he had been terminated from CNN on Monday, saying he was “stunned” and suggested there were “some larger issues at play.”

CNN released a statement following the termination, noting that the network offered Lemon an “opportunity to meet with management but [that he] instead released a statement on Twitter.”

Lemon’s termination follows recent backlash for his treatment of women.
Earlier this year, Lemon suggested presidential candidate Nikki Haley was past her "prime." He has also been accused of various inappropriate behaviors and misconduct toward female coworkers during his time at CNN.
