The Department of Government Efficiency announced that it saved the equivalent of $182 million in dozens of canceled contracts, including an Anthony Fauci exhibit at the DeWitt Stetten, Jr., Museum of Medical Research.

Fauci, 84, was former President Joe Biden’s chief medical adviser and a longtime director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. He has since been replaced in the latter role by Jeanne Marrazzo.

“In the past 48 hours, HHS canceled 62 contract worth $182 million,” DOGE posted Friday on X. “These contracts were entirely for administrative expenses – none touched any healthcare programs. This included terminating a $168,000 contract for an Anthony Fauci exhibit at the NIH Museum.”

Biden preemptively pardoned Fauci before leaving office, protecting him from any malfeasance he could have committed while largely shaping the coronavirus pandemic restrictions. Fauci was notorious for his flip-flopping on recommendations to people attempting to avoid contracting the virus, as he at first discouraged masks and then strongly encouraged their use.

Fauci was among the royalty recipients from the National Institutes of Health, receiving 23 royalty payments between 2009 and 2014. The NIH gave a total of $340 million to several recipients over that time.

Other organizations have opted to honor Fauci’s service, including when he was name an honorary member of the class of 2022 at Princeton University.

The NIH Stetten Museum, founded in 1986, is located in Bethesda, Maryland.
