NextImg:Disney theme parks are desperate for business. Are we really surprised?

Democrats have become so anti-family that they’re anti-family fun, too. Take Disney theme parks, for example. Attendance has been somewhat steady, COVID-19 notwithstanding, but this year, wait times for rides are down, according to an analysis by Touring Plans, a group that tracks wait times and, thus, attendance.

In its quarterly report, Disney’s management team lowered the park's earnings forecast . Disney theme parks are also offering discounts for Christmas — a sure sign that they’re trying to drum up business.

THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE MUST JUSTIFY HUNTER'S SPECIAL TREATMENT

No one seems to know exactly why Disney is struggling to maintain high levels of foot traffic. Some have mentioned the hot weather or the fact that people are resuming post-pandemic vacations elsewhere.

Here are two more likely theories: Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) has taken Disney to task over what he calls its “woke agenda,” placing political correctness in Disney’s films and prioritizing that over quality. Some families could have looked at DeSantis’s Disney war and decided not to spend their hard-earned money at a place that doesn’t match their values.

Disney is focused more on inclusivity and diversity than ever, often sparking backlash from people who just want to enjoy a good story or have a good laugh without having to be reassured that no one’s feelings were hurt in the making of this story.

Recently, photos from the set of Disney’s live-action Snow White were published, showing Snow White with actors of various ethnicities, and even genders, instead of seven dwarf-like men. This prompted accusations that Snow White had gone “woke.” A Disney representative told the Daily Beast that the photos were “fake and not from our production.” Later, Disney had to reverse the claim, admitting the photos were from the set.

For many Disney lovers, nostalgia for the classics is stronger than the need for political correctness. Disney continues to bend to the need to be inclusive and diverse to its own peril.

The economy is hurting too, thanks in part to President Joe Biden’s post-pandemic American Rescue Plan, which caused inflation to swell. While inflation is lower than it was last year, that massive spike depleted savings and increased credit card debt. Over half the country reports living paycheck to paycheck. Grocery prices have spiked from a year ago, and so has the cost of dining out.

People overall are taking less vacation. The average worker in the United States took 11 days off last year, far less than people in many other countries. A Disney vacation is no cheap venture. According to one Disney travel guru , for a family of four (two adults, two young children), a “baseline” Disney trip — that’s none of the super fancy stuff — costs about $6,320. Projected costs for a trip in 2024 are even higher, at nearly $7,000.

Lack of funds to take vacation and Disney’s prolonged woke agenda could have turned away eager families who just want to have some good old-fashioned fun.

Liberals have long pushed for an anti-family agenda that turns out to be anti-fun, too — from abortion policies and economic ones to the idea that every single Disney film must represent every ethnicity and gender known to man. Childhood nostalgia is now being replaced with a woke agenda.
