NextImg:DHS board dishonestly claims Trump supporters are terrorist threat - Washington Examiner

A Department of Homeland Security advisory board has disingenuously asserted that supporters of former President Donald Trump compose “most of the domestic terrorism threat” in documents that implicitly overlook far more important dangers.

The patronizing claim inherently disregards the real terrorists who have streamed into our country due to President Joe Biden’s lack of care for the public. Eight suspected terrorists with ties to ISIS were arrested just a few weeks ago. The most dangerous criminal organization in South America is now operating in our cities. To imply that Trump supporters are somehow more dangerous than human traffickers and members of ISIS is both blatantly dishonest and downright absurd.

There’s an underlying political agenda here, of course.

In the wake of Jan. 6, Democrats have pushed the narrative that both Trump and his supporters are a dangerous threat to democracy. A letter signed in 2021 urging Inspector General Sean O’Donnell to “take action on this wave of violent extremism” was signed by 15 Democratic lawmakers.

The board, named the Homeland Intelligence Experts Group, features former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, former CIA Director John Brennan, and former CIA Operations Officer Paul Kolbe. All three signed an October 2020 letter that suggested the Hunter Biden laptop was Russian disinformation.

Also thought-provoking about the advisory board is that it was created in September 2023 with the theoretical purpose of providing DHS with analysis on terrorism and fentanyl trafficking.

Given the curious history of those on the board, it should not be much of a surprise that research concerning fentanyl has been replaced with insincere accusations against Trump supporters.

The documents that were obtained by America First Legal don’t stop there, however. Traits that are classified as being “indicators of extremists and terrorism” also include people who have served “in the military” and are “religious.”

Implicating religious people is disrespectful enough, but accusing people who fought for our country of being extremist terrorists is so offensive and insulting that it’s almost difficult to believe these documents were created at all.

This advisory board might want to start worrying about the imminent terrorist attacks originating from our open southern border before they discuss veterans wearing Make America Great Again hats.
