Boosters of Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) are teasing a "special" Twitter Spaces event, rumored to feature an announcement about 2024.
The "special Twitter Spaces" will take place Wednesday at 6 p.m. for those curious about DeSantis's "future plans."
WHO'S IN, WHO'S OUT, AND WHO'S STILL WAITING TO ANNOUNCE FOR SENATE IN 2024
The event will feature a discussion with Twitter CEO Elon Musk and be moderated by entrepreneur and DeSantis backer David Sacks, multiple sources told NBC.
Following the discussion, DeSantis is reportedly expected to release a video and begin barnstorming key states. Multiple reports indicated DeSantis planned to file paperwork for a 2024 campaign this week.
From there, DeSantis is expected to embark upon a fundraising blitz and eventually hold a more formal campaign kickoff in Dunedin, Florida, his hometown.
DeSantis has consistently polled as Donald Trump's chief GOP rival in the primary, though the former president has a roughly 37-point edge over him in the latest RealClearPolitics aggregate.
Other signs pointing to potential movement include him changing his Twitter handle from “@RonDeSantisFL” to “@RonDeSantis." A source close to DeSantis also flagged the website http://rondesantis.com/, which appears blank as of press time.
Musk previously indicated that he would be supportive of DeSantis in 2024, having spoken harshly of both Trump and President Joe Biden.

News of DeSantis's Wednesday announcement comes on the heels of Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) jumping into the 2024 race Monday.
DeSantis has long suggested that a 2024 decision will come after the Florida legislature wraps up its legislative session, which happened earlier this month. Ahead of the big announcement, the governor has swung through numerous early states with a team of holdovers from his 2022 gubernatorial reelection bid coordinating many of those ventures.
