EXCLUSIVE — Never Back Down, the super PAC supporting Gov. Ron DeSantis’s (R-FL) presidential bid, announced the creation of a new grassroots coalition, Parents Never Back Down.

According to a press release first obtained by the Washington Examiner, Never Back Down is launching the first chapter of Parents Never Back Down in Virginia and announced 10 chairs and 100 members. The parents involved in this group were all a part of the Parents Matter movement during the Virginia gubernatorial race, where they supported Glenn Youngkin, who eventually won.

Youngkin’s campaign and Never Back Down share a number of common advisers, including Republican strategist Jeff Roe, the founder of Axiom Strategies, and Ellen Walters, Never Back Down’s director of coalitions, who served as the director of Women for Glenn on Youngkin’s campaign.

“No one has done more for our schools or our kids in the last six years than Governor Ron DeSantis,” Walters said in a statement. “He has the strongest track record of any presidential candidate when it comes to standing up for the American family and protecting our children. Parents Never Back Down will build off the widespread support DeSantis already has from parents by deploying this coalition in early primary states, and growing the parents’ movement behind him into the largest ever seen in a presidential primary.”

The parents said they were drawn to DeSantis because of his pushback against the “indoctrination” in schools in Florida and that if elected president, he will continue this fight to ensure that children aren’t indoctrinated in schools.

“I know he will continue this fight at the federal level, and, as our next President, ensure sexualized material, radical transgender ideology, and divisive Critical Race Theory is kept out of schools for our most vulnerable children,” Elicia Brand, a Parents Never Back Down co-chair, said in a statement.

In a statement, Andrew Pullen, a Fluvanna County School Board member and another Parents Never Back Down co-chair, said that because DeSantis and his wife Casey DeSantis are both young parents themselves, they understand what parents across the country are going through and that is why he supports them.

“They’ve fought to protect children from dangerous woke ideology at every corner, and absolutely will not back down from that fight in the White House,” Pullen said. “Governor DeSantis stands for American families and will always have the back of us parents when it comes to making decisions for our children.”

Never Back Down hopes to expand the grassroots coalition group to other states outside of Virginia as well.
