Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) is no longer in the presidential race, but he still has liberal media targeting him with some of the weakest critics they can find while Florida prospers.
DeSantis earned the ire of a television meteorologist for signing a law that pushes the state to further evaluate the benefits of nuclear energy, prohibits offshore wind expansion and certain wind turbines, and loosened some regulations on natural gas. The law also includes the cardinal sin of removing from Florida’s energy policy the direction that the state address “the potential of global climate change.”
The weatherman’s rant, promoted by the Washington Post and others, includes him telling people who to vote for after saying “we will never tell you who to vote for,” along with the other cookie-cutter alarmism phrases that come with Democratic climate change lectures. Meanwhile, Florida will be making energy more affordable for residents while other climate-focused states (think California) see rising energy prices while still relying on “dirty” forms of energy.
Meanwhile, emissions aren’t going to get out of control because Florida gets residents affordable energy (while exploring clean nuclear and having robust solar, while wind was already not much of an option, as even the Washington Post admitted). As always, it is China leading the world in emissions with little sign of slowing.
But climate isn’t the only weak talking point leftists have to go after DeSantis. Emmitt Smith, the NFL legend who graduated from the University of Florida, has been trotted out to attack DeSantis on diversity, equity, and inclusion, the racist ideology that DeSantis has scrubbed from Florida universities. Smith rambled that taking away DEI would take away name, image, and likeness rights from black athletes and that athletes should go to universities outside of Florida.

It is a delusional conspiracy theory, predicated on the idea that DEI is necessary for black students when it is actually a hateful ideology designed to divide people. Back in reality, DeSantis signed the nation’s second NIL protections for student-athletes into law in 2020 (and did so with an earlier implementation date than California), leading the way for the current NIL landscape we see in the NCAA today.
These are the best critics and criticisms that liberal media has to offer when it comes to DeSantis. The Florida Democratic Party is run by a conspiracy theorist who got blown out in the Democratic primary for governor by the candidate that DeSantis destroyed in the general election. DeSantis flipped Florida on its head and made it a solid red state that is competently run with little Democratic opposition, and his successes are vindicated with each weak attack liberal media facilitates against him.
