Gov. Ron DeSantis's (R-FL) presence at the Iowa State Fair has earned him an aerial critic at one of the first significant events in the 2024 election cycle.

A plane was seen flying above the Iowa State Fair on Saturday, an hour before DeSantis was scheduled to speak with Gov. Kim Reynolds (R-IA) at her "fair-side talks" event. The plane dragged a banner behind it that read, "Be Likable, Ron!" The flag flew over the Fair, considered one of the first stops for any presidential candidate's run.

The Florida governor's visit was also interrupted on Saturday by a group of protesters chanting "Ron DeFascist" and "pudding fingers," according to Politico. The protesters were there as part of a pro-abortion political action committee.

DeSantis and former President Donald Trump are making appearances at the fair on Saturday, where they will meet with voters and get a chance to make a case for themselves as the Republican primary candidate.

DeSantis is sitting in second place behind Trump in state and national polling. The Florida governor won 20% of the vote in Iowa, based on an Aug. 4 New York Times/Sienna poll.

It's unclear who may have purchased the aerial banner above the Iowa State Fair.
