Gov. Ron DeSantis's (R-FL) 2024 campaign reported raking in $20 million in the six weeks since he announced his run for president in May.

The campaign said in a press release that the figure is the largest first-quarter filing from a nonincumbent Republican candidate in over 10 years.

Former President Donald Trump, who is leading the field of Republican primary candidates, posted $35 million in the second quarter of 2023. However, DeSantis's team pointed out that the governor's six-week haul is more than Trump raised in the first two quarters following his mid-November announcement. Trump brought in $3.8 million in the last quarter of 2022 and $14.5 million in the first quarter of 2023, for a grand total of $18.3 million.

Notably, Trump's campaign reported $9.5 million was raised in the quarter following his announcement, yet only $3.8 million was transferred to his presidential account.

“Joe Biden’s leftist policies are destroying the country, and Republicans are excited to invest in a winner ready to lead America’s revival,” DeSantis campaign manager Generra Peck said. “We are grateful for the investment so many Americans have made to get this country back on track. The fight to save it will be long and challenging, but we have built an operation to share the governor’s message and mobilize the millions of people who support it. We are ready to win.”

DeSantis is polling at 19% among potential Republican primary voters, second only to Trump, who enjoys the support of 57%, according to Morning Consult. In a hypothetical general election matchup, Trump defeats President Joe Biden 44% to 41%, while DeSantis loses to the incumbent president by just 2 percentage points, 40% to Biden's 42%.
