Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) is headed to the United Kingdom and will meet with UK foreign secretary James Cleverly at the end of the month, as he continues to ramp up for an expected presidential announcement in the upcoming months.

"This trade mission will give us the opportunity to strengthen economic relationships and continue to demonstrate Florida’s position as an economic leader," DeSantis said in a press release.

'CIVIL WAR AMONG BROTHERS’ BREAKS OUT IN FLORIDA AS GOP WEIGHS TRUMP VS. DESANTIS

In addition to the UK visit, the Florida governor is set to visit South Korea, Japan, and Israel as part of an international trade mission. He will be joined on the tour by his wife, Casey DeSantis, Florida Secretary of State Cord Byrd, and Florida Secretary of Commerce Laura DiBella.

DeSantis has not officially launched a 2024 presidential campaign but Never Back Down, a Super PAC supporting DeSantis, has released television advertisements championing DeSantis, while attacking former President Donald Trump. Trump and DeSantis are the top two GOP presidential candidates among primary voters, polling shows.

The international tour will likely bolster DeSantis's presidential credentials as he faces an uphill climb to knock Trump from the top spot among Republican primary voters.

DeSantis is set to meet with Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi. He will also meet with Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon and Prime Minister Han Duck-soo in South Korea. In Israel, DeSantis will give a keynote address commemorating the 75th anniversary of the founding of Israel on April 27.

Israel is a key ally of the U.S. and has strong support among Republicans. Both House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) are visiting Israel this month. This will be the first international trip for the two as House leaders of their respective parties.

In recent days, DeSantis's burgeoning campaign has hit a snag as several members of the Florida congressional delegation have endorsed Trump—even as he made a quick visit to Washington, D.C. to attend a meet-and-greet with conservatives. On Thursday, Florida lawmakers who endorsed Trump headed to Mar-a-Lago to attend dinner with the former president.
