Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) asked an Associated Press reporter if he was blind on Thursday, responding to a question from him about why the candidate wasn't taking questions from voters.
After speaking at an event in Laconia, New Hampshire, as a part of DeSantis's Our Great American Comeback tour, reporter Steve Peoples noted that there was not a question and answer session.

When Peoples approached the governor, he asked: "Why not take any questions from voters, governor?"
"Governor, how come you're not taking questions from voters?" he prompted again as DeSantis posed for a photograph with a citizen.

After the photograph was taken, DeSantis responded, saying, "People are coming up to me, talking to me, what are you talking about? ... Are you blind? Are you blind?"
Peoples then responded that he wasn't blind.
"Okay, so people are coming up to me talking to me, whatever they want to talk to me about," DeSantis said.
"This @AP reporter asked @RonDeSantis this question while was surrounded by voters in New Hampshire asking him questions and taking pictures. Perfectly illustrative of the modern media shutting their eyes and ears to the truth to push their narrative," wrote the DeSantis campaign press secretary Bryan Griffin afterward.

DeSantis announced his presidential bid last week. It's unclear what the candidate's relationship will look like with mainstream media outlets, which he and former President Donald Trump have both criticized heavily in the past.
Trump, however, shocked many when he agreed to do a live town hall event with CNN last month. It remains to be seen whether DeSantis will do a similar event, even as expected presidential candidate Mike Pence announced a similar town hall with the network.
