Democrats are issuing their latest attack against Republicans in their effort to regain the House majority next year, this time targeting GOP-led investigations focused on the Biden administration ahead of the 2024 election cycle.
The Congressional Integrity Project launched a new ad campaign on Monday targeting vulnerable House Republicans in 18 districts, hammering the lawmakers over their support of investigations into President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden over the last seven months. The 30-second ads call out GOP members by name and encourage voters to call their representatives to tell them “to stop pushing an extreme agenda.”

“MAGA Republicans have hijacked the House of Representatives,” the ad says. “They're wasting your taxpayer dollars on partisan stunts instead of tackling the issues that the American people care about.”
The ads are set to run in eight different states and target some of the most competitive districts of the 2024 cycle, including the seats held by Reps. Don Bacon (R-NE), Lori Chavez-DeRemer (R-OR), Juan Ciscomani (R-AZ), Anthony D'Esposito (R-NY), John Duarte (R-CA), Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), Mike Garcia (R-CA), Tom Kean Jr. (R-NJ), Jen Kiggans (R-VA), Young Kim (R-CA), Nick LaLota (R-NY), Mike Lawler (R-NY), Marc Molinaro (R-NY), George Santos (R-NY), David Schweikert (R-AZ), Michelle Steel (R-CA), David Valadao (R-CA), and Brandon Williams (R-NY).
The ads come at a crucial time as Congress adjourned for its August recess, giving lawmakers six weeks to speak with voters in their home districts as they vie for reelection next year.
The ad campaign also comes as House Republicans ramp up investigations into President Joe Biden and his alleged involvement in his son Hunter Biden's business dealings. Lawmakers interviewed Devon Archer behind closed doors last week, during which he revealed that Biden had been present for at least 20 phone calls with Hunter Biden's business associates.
Archer noted the conversations did not pertain to business but were merely social in nature, prompting Democrats to accuse Republicans of wasting resources to investigate false claims.
“They have not found a single shred of evidence to link President Biden to any wrongdoing, yet they won't give up the jig even as Americans and other Republicans are calling their investigations a waste of time and embarrassing failures,” Congressional Integrity Project Executive Director Kyle Herrig said in a statement. “Every Republican who fails to denounce these political stunts is complicit in using taxpayers' money on behalf of Donald Trump.”
However, Republicans interpreted Archer’s testimony through a different lens, citing it as evidence that Hunter Biden had received money from China and that Joe Biden lied about knowing details of his son's dealings.

All 435 seats are up for grabs in 2024 as Republicans seek to hold their slim majority in the lower chamber. Of these, 42 are considered competitive, with most of those held by Democrats, giving the GOP a slight advantage as it prepares for the next election cycle.
However, of the 42 competitive seats, 18 are held by Republicans in districts that voted for President Joe Biden in 2020, compared to just five Democrats who must defend their seats in districts carried by former President Donald Trump. That means there are just enough vulnerable GOP-held seats to keep things competitive heading into the next election cycle.
