In their condemnations of President Donald Trump this week, a few prominent Democrats made a tacit admission about American politics: The Left has a political violence problem.
Former Vice President Kamala Harris said that Trump’s use of the National Guard to quell violent and destructive protests is “meant to provoke chaos.”

Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) says Trump is inciting violence by sending in law enforcement.
Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ), a presidential candidate, said that Trump’s enforcement actions are “only going to incite the situation and make things worse.”
Democratic commentator Tom Nichols put it this way: “By militarizing the situation in L.A., Trump is goading Americans more generally to take him on in the streets of their own cities, thus enabling his attacks on their constitutional freedoms.”
These remarks are intended as attacks on Trump. They may, in fact, be accurate assessments of Trump’s intentions: Trump may be sending in militarized federal law enforcement in the knowledge that the sight of more cops, especially cops who answer to Donald Trump, will trigger liberal protesters into violence and property destruction.
But consider what this says about the American Left. Democrats believe their own base is inherently violent and is prone to attack federal law enforcement or treat their presence as a reason to burn more cars and buildings.
This is quite an admission, and it cuts against the constant contention by the news media that the American Right is uniquely a source of political violence. It’s also a bit of a threat: Don’t stand up to our rioters and illegal protesters too much, or they’ll really get ugly.

Left-wing organs regularly declare that the Religious Right was the major source of violence we should all fear. This week, Democrats in office and in the media are telling us just how violent and easily provoked their own base is.
