EXCLUSIVE — With the House majority in play, Democrats have found a new line of attack against Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) by going after the company she keeps on the campaign trail.

In particular, the Democratic National Committee is criticizing Boebert for holding a fundraiser Thursday in Windsor, Colorado, with Donald Trump Jr. and Alex Bruesewitz, a Trumpworld political consultant and conservative activist who helped organize the Stop the Steal rally at the Ellipse on Jan. 6, 2021, but did not take part in the riot at the U.S. Capitol.

“The last time Lauren Boebert, Alex Bruesewitz, and Donald Trump Jr. teamed up, it was to try to overturn the 2020 election results,” DNC spokeswoman Aida Ross told the Washington Examiner on Thursday.

“These three MAGA minions are now pushing an extreme platform to threaten our democracy while Trump continues to center his presidential campaign on his dangerous election denialism and promises to pardon violent insurrectionists,” Ross said. “It’s a losing formula for the Republican Party, and voters will stop these anti-democracy extremists at the polls this November.”

Bruesewitz told the Washington Examiner he looked forward to Thursday’s event, describing Boebert, who has clashed with the likes of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), as an “America First champion.” He is confident the Colorado Republican will win in six months because she has stood by Trump.

“The real threat to democracy are the Democrats who have arrested the leader of the opposition party not once, not twice, but four times,” Bruesewitz said. “Americans will reject the Democrats’ war on democracy by voting for Donald J. Trump in November.”

Democrats have dismissed the idea Trump’s legal dramas are politically motivated.

Boebert and Trump Jr. did not respond to the Washington Examiner‘s request for comment.

Boebert, who has been labeled a carpetbagger, is running to represent Colorado’s 4th Congressional District, which is vacant thanks to the early retirement of former Rep. Ken Buck. She decided against participating in June’s special election to serve the remainder of his term.

Boebert is the 3rd District’s incumbent. The vocal gun rights advocate, who used to encourage staff members at her restaurant Shooters to openly carry their weapons, won her reelection campaign in 2022 against Democratic former Aspen City Council member Adam Frisch by only 546 votes. In comparison, Buck won his contest in 2022 by almost 25 percentage points.

Tickets for the Boebert fundraiser range from $250 to $3,300.
