Democrats know they have the liberal media in their pockets. At the Democratic National Convention, they are practically daring journalists to break the party line and actually do their jobs.

Liberal commentator Kaivan Shroff told ABC News that Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign is putting its “trust” in journalists to “explain these policies and our values to folks” and that “when that happens, it will be successful for Democrats.” We all know that this is the relationship Democrats have with liberal media outlets that claim to be “mainstream,” but the outright admission less than three months before an election should be insulting to the pride of any journalists who like to pretend they are unbiased stewards of the truth.

Looking at how the DNC is treating these journalists, you can see that the party is practically rubbing it in that it knows they will play their part as unofficial Democratic communications teams. The DNC is credentialing “influencers” (professional social media posters who are in the tank for the party) as if they are journalists. This comes with special perks, including full-time staff dedicated to the influencers and a special raised platform from which they can enjoy the convention — this, while journalists were given the run-around with their credentials on the first day, according to the Daily Wire’s Brent Scher.

The best these journalists can do is “grumble” about their treatment, though, as Democrats choose to spout off various falsehoods and dare journalists to call them on it. That includes multiple Democrats trying to act like their party wasn’t the one that kept schools closed during the pandemic far longer than they should have been. Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN), Harris’s running mate, appears to have fabricated just about every element of his life story, including his military service, his drunk driving arrest, and now his false claims that he and his wife used in vitro fertilization to conceive their children.

All the while, Harris has dodged interviews and press conferences with journalists to hide the fact that she is so woefully unprepared even to face friendly interviewers. And those same journalists sit there and take the disrespect because Democrats know they have the journalists’ support secured.

This has been proved in the coverage (or lack thereof) of Walz’s lies and Harris’s disappearing act. It has also been proved in the dutiful adoption of Democratic talking points about Harris’s campaign of “joy” or how Republicans are “weird.” Liberal media outlets would rather see Democrats win elections than that they (the journalists) earn respect from anyone, which is why the DNC is taking them for granted while “trust” in journalism continues to drop to new all-time lows with each passing year.
