Washington Examiner chief political correspondent Byron York said a new ad targeting male voters ignores proper context, as it pulls data from when the Democratic Party controlled Congress and the White House.
The ad, paid for by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, claims that the Republican Party is making beer prices “soar” over Labor Day and encourages viewers to visit a website focusing on price hikes. The website, also paid for by the DCCC, allows users to shop for food items such as beer, cheese, and ground beef, and shows them how much prices have gone up “under GOP control.”

York said the ad is an attempt to appeal to male voters aged 18-44, saying the Democratic Party lost members of this voting bloc “in large numbers.” However, he highlighted “itty bitty” text at the bottom of the website, which states its data are based on price increases since 2022.
“Now, if you remember, inflation spiked at 9.1% in June of 2022, and that was largely, or at least significantly, attributed to the massive spending bills passed by Democratic Congress and signed by President Biden,” York said on Fox News’s Fox & Friends. “So this appears to be a way to or an attempt to shift the blame from the Biden inflation onto Republicans and saying that they’re ruining your Labor Day.”
York also said young male voters, “like all other voters,” voted on issues such as crime, border security, and inflation, the latter being “the biggest issue in 2024.”
