NextImg:DC Metro reports one person dead following delays to Red Line train

Washington, D.C., Metro Transit Police said one person was dead after officers were alerted to a person being on the tracks at a Red Line station on Monday.

Red Line metro trains were delayed after police were called to Judiciary Square station over reports of an "unauthorized person on the tracks that may have made contact w/third rail," Metro Transit Police tweeted.

Metro confirmed to the Washington Examiner that "the individual had no signs of life."

"Medics responded and the individual was determined deceased. [An] investigation is ongoing," a Metro spokesperson told the Washington Examiner.

Red Line services from Gallery Place to NoMa-Gallaudet University stations were suspended, encompassing Judiciary Square station and Union Station. Metro announced at 8:48 a.m. that commuters should expect delays, with police announcing the unauthorized person's death at 10 a.m.

Metro is expected to release additional details later on Monday.
