NextImg:David Hogg inexplicably used his classmates' deaths to criticize Target backlash

Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting survivor David Hogg has made quite a career as a so-called gun control activist.

He went through an unspeakable tragedy and used that experience to speak out against guns, the NRA, Republicans, and others who don't subscribe to the belief that banning guns will end such tragedies. Assuming his original motives were noble, he's brought a lot of attention to school shootings and called for Congress to pass legislation that he thinks will prevent such horrific events.

HOW GEORGE SOROS IS SPREADING ADDICTION, DEATH, AND CHAOS ACROSS THE US

However, Hogg has also used the event to bring much attention to himself, create a national profile, and substantially increase his popularity. He's also routinely made odd, silly, illogical statements on social media that seem to exploit the deaths of his classmates to try to assert left-wing political talking points.

His latest logical fallacy involved Hogg's tweet using the deaths of his classmates to condemn the backlash against retail chain Target for its "Pride" promotional display and apparel.

"It wasn't a rainbow crop top that slaughtered 17 of my classmates and administrators," Hogg tweeted.

But his comment doesn't make any sense, and it's indicative of how Hogg exploits his classmates' death.

Target's "Pride" apparel, or the outrage against it, is in no way similar or relatable to the tragic shooting at Stoneman Douglas High School in 2018. The two events have nothing in common. I would think that Hogg, a recent graduate of Harvard University, knows this (if not, then it is truly a reflection on the declining value of an Ivy League college education).

Sadly, this is what Hogg repeatedly does to promote radical left-wing agendas.

It's true that a "rainbow crop top" didn't kill his classmates. Neither did a drunk driver, a rapist, a bank robber, a jewel thief, a carjacker, a drug dealer, or a human trafficker. Using Hogg's "logic," this would mean we should not have any outrage or want any laws preventing the aforementioned criminal acts. Obviously, this would be silly, and so was Hogg's attempt to exploit his classmates' death to defend Target's "Pride" clothing.

It's one thing to help create a national movement predicated on not wanting kids to get murdered at schools. It's another to use these students' tragic deaths to advance any political objective that Hogg supports. We get it; he survived a school shooting. We get it, he's a staunch left-wing political activist. However, more often than not, those two experiences do not overlap in any way.

By doing this, he is showing he is a self-centered manipulator. It's perfectly valid to use his experience to speak about gun control and school shootings. However, using the tragic deaths of murdered high school students to advance unrelated political and socio-cultural agendas and issues is shameful, and Hogg should be embarrassed.
