The Sixteen Thirty Fund, a left-wing dark money network, has been on both sides of President-elect Donald Trump‘s pick to run the Department of Health and Human Services, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Protect Our Care, with the help of donations from the Sixteen Thirty Fund and others, is raising $1 million toward its “Stop RFK War Room” campaign. One of its ads cites Kennedy’s long history of being skeptical of vaccines, accusing him of spreading “deadly lies” about them. Kennedy’s skepticism of vaccines also led to Meta removing him from Instagram for months. He also had several segments cut from interviews with traditional news outlets when he discussed vaccines.

“Tell your senators: reject RFK Jr.,” the ad pleads. “He’s not just unfit, he’s dangerous.”

In October 2023, when Kennedy was running as an independent candidate for president, the Sixteen Thirty Fund contributed to the Retire Career Politicians super PAC, which ran ads in Kennedy’s favor. Propping up Kennedy was seen as an effort to siphon votes away from Trump, as the PAC also made ads on behalf of Libertarian nominee Chase Oliver and Constitution Party nominee Randall Terry.

The Sixteen Thirty Fund is not required to report its donors to the IRS. Since 2009, it has worked to bolster Democratic candidates and thwart Republican campaigns.

The Washington Examiner reached out to the Sixteen Thirty Fund for comment about this most recent ad campaign.

Arabella Advisors, the management company for the Sixteen Thirty Fund, among other groups, recently dodged charges from the District of Columbia attorney general’s office, as Attorney General Brian Schwalb dropped his investigation in April 2024.

Trump has shown no signs of changing his mind on the HHS position, as Kennedy has traveled with him to a UFC fight and Trump’s bell-ringing at the New York Stock Exchange. Kennedy has continued to personally meet with senators ahead of his hearing, which has yet to be scheduled.
