Floridians can now buy wine bottles holding 15 liters, or roughly four gallons.

Under the law, it is illegal for a person to sell wine in a container holding more than one gallon unless it is in a reusable container holding 5.16 gallons or a glass container holding 4.5, six, nine, 12, or 15 liters. The new law aims to eliminate out-of-state regulations in order to help businesses.

Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) signed the bill into law in a South Florida wine shop.

“People need these … I asked, would people buy those?” DeSantis said during the press conference. “But yes. If you have a wedding, if you have a special celebration.”

“We want our consumers to be happy,” DeSantis said. “And if that means they want to buy and sell a big ol’ bottle of wine like this, then by golly, they’re going to be able to do that in the state of Florida.”

The law will take effect July 1.
