NextImg:Crockett may have to 'earn' Texas seat amid redistricting: Joe Concha

Washington Examiner’s Joe Concha said Monday that “performance artist” Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) would have to appeal to voters to remain in Congress next year.

Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX) is seeking to redistrict Texas in a bid to give Republicans an extra five seats in the House of Representatives, one of which is Crockett’s district in Houston. The lawmaker has been vocal in her opposition to President Donald Trump and her use of social media, prompting Concha to suggest she is “not serious about anything” besides promoting herself.

“I would describe her as somebody who, when she does, to your point [cohost Carly Shimkus], she could be redistricted out of her seat where she would actually have to earn votes from those who are independent or Republican,” Concha said on Fox News’s Fox & Friends First.

“She probably will lose her seat in Texas, and then, if you ever found somebody who is perfect for The View, you’re looking at it right now on your screen,” he continued. “Like, she would be great on that show, and then she could do all the performance arts that she wants and not actually have to like actually worry about solving the problems for the people of Texas, the people she’s supposed to actually represent, and get all the headlines she wants cause that’s why she exists.”

Concha also addressed a report that Crockett is “rude” to her Congressional staff and rarely comes into work in person at her government-provided suite. Concha said the report makes Crockett look “the opposite” of the Fox News show’s cohosts.

TEXAS REPUBLICAN WARNS AGAINST ‘DEMONIZING’ ICE AGENTS, CLAIMING ‘1,000% INCREASE’ IN ATTACKS

Crockett is among the Democratic lawmakers vocally opposing Texas’s bid to redistrict, saying last month she needs “people of color” to recognize the “scheme” the Republican Party is enacting.

Vice President JD Vance defended Texas’s redistricting effort Sunday, saying California has “way more House seats” than it should due to illegal immigrants. He said “the only real way to fight back” is to redistrict “as aggressively as these hard blue states have done.”
