The 28-year-old shooter who opened fire at the private Christian Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee, wrote messages on the clothing worn before killing three students and three adult staff members.
An autopsy of Audrey Hale, who identified as a transgender man but was listed by the report as female, showed Hale was carrying a red pocket knife with the person's preferred name, Aiden, inscribed on it, and wearing clothing with unknown messages.

The report comes months after investigators released body camera footage showing police officers taking down Hale 14 minutes after the shooter entered the school. Hale used three of seven legally purchased guns to carry out the shooting.
Emily Denison, assistant medical examiner for Davidson County, unsurprisingly ruled Hale's cause of death as gunshot wounds and manner of death as a homicide. Hale also had bruises, abrasions, and "minor" blunt force trauma.
Hale received gunshot wounds to the torso, left arm, right thigh, and head. The person also had superficial graze wounds to the right shoulder.
The medical examiner determined Hale was wearing a white shirt with "handwritten words, drawings and numbers," as well as a pink bra with handwritten words and a drawing. There was an "orange plastic bracelet" with the inscription "508407."
A toxicological analysis of the blood postmortem did not detect any drugs or ethanol.
investigators found a suicide note, weapons, and ammunition in Hale's possession. A manifesto and map of the Covenant School were also among the items.
The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department said in May that it would not release the manifesto pending litigation. In June, Hale's parents transferred ownership of the manifesto to the Covenant School parents of students. The parents have stated that they do not want the manifesto released to the public.

Several politicians, a newspaper, and gun-rights groups are seeking the release of Hale’s writings, with some arguing that any proposed changes to firearm regulations based on the shooting would not be fair without knowing more about Hale’s motives and mental state.
The six victims of the Covenant School shooting were students Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs, and William Kinney, all age 9, and substitute teacher Cynthia Peak, 61, Head of School Katherine Koonce, 60, and custodian Mike Hill, 61.
