Former Donald Trump operative Corey Lewandowski is rejoining the presidential candidate’s campaign to help with the Republican convention.
Lewandowski will help with the Republican Party’s convention and delegate process, according to the National Review.
“He’s very helpful to me, and he’s helpful to the RNC, and he’s helpful to the president,” Trump 2024 campaign adviser Chris LaCivita told the outlet.
Though first reported on Tuesday, Lewandowski was hired last month. A Republican National Committee filing to the Federal Election Commission reported a payout of $20,000 to Lewandowski’s consulting firm on April 21, Politico reported.
Lewandowski has had a complicated relationship with Trump’s circle, going in and out amid several different controversies. He served as Trump’s 2016 presidential election campaign manager until June 2016. He drew national headlines in March of that year after grabbing the arm of Breitbart reporter Michelle Fields after she attempted to approach Trump.
The operative remained active in Trump’s world and worked with the administration. His final expulsion came in September 2021 after the wife of a prominent GOP donor alleged that Lewandowski made numerous unwanted sexual advances against her at a Las Vegas event.
