Former White House counselor Kellyanne Conway slammed the hosts of The View for worrying that former President Donald Trump could be elected again and preside from jail.

“What’s really starting to freak me out is the idea that we’re not even discussing changing the Constitution to make it say, you cannot be in jail, and be the president,” The View host Whoopi Goldberg said.

BIDEN GIVES TRUMP THE SILENT TREATMENT ON INDICTMENT, BUT FOR HOW LONG?

In response, Conway told Fox News Tonight that it is comments such as Goldberg’s that are only fueling Trump’s popularity and favorability.

“Instead of just ignoring [Trump], they’re empowering him,” Conway said.

Conway suggested that the latest indictment will likely have little effect on Trump’s lead among 2024 GOP presidential candidates.

“He’s the front-runner because when you want to hire someone to do a big job, you first look at somebody who’s done the job in the past,” Conway said. “That’s why he’s leading. People are hungering, thirsting for real leadership and they don’t want Joe Biden or Kamala Harris there anymore.”

“He’ll still be the front-runner, and people see in him someone who’s being persecuted and prosecuted for doing things that they still wonder what the facts are,” she continued. “They’re concerned this could be them, too.”

Last week, special counsel Jack Smith, who was handpicked by Biden’s Attorney General Merrick Garland, brought charges against Trump. The former president was arraigned in Miami on Tuesday on 37 counts for charges related to alleged obstruction and mishandling of classified documents.
