CNN is in talks with CBS host Gayle King for a new CNN prime-time show.
The Washington Examiner has learned that the network is courting King, 68, to host a weekly program.

Former NBA player Charles Barkley has confirmed that he has been approached by CNN to join King on the project.
“They are trying to pair Gayle King and me,” he recently said. “We don’t have anything set in stone. I’m only considering it because of my respect for Gayle.”
Representatives for King did not respond to the Washington Examiner's request for comment.
One report indicated that if a deal is struck, King would continue her duties on CBS Mornings as normal.
An industry source told the Washington Examiner that CNN has been attempting to work a deal out with the CBS host for a while.
However, a deal is not necessarily being finalized, and the network is not making any announcements about a new program currently.
CNN recently announced a new Sunday show hosted by Anderson Cooper, who already hosts a prime-time program for the network on weeknights.
The Whole Story with Anderson Cooper will premiere on April 16 at 8 p.m. The new show will be "a collection of unique and immersive single subject, one-hour episodes," according to CNN.
This comes as CNN has seen relatively poor ratings compared to some competitors, particularly Fox News. Further, some changes made in the network's broadcasting have not delivered competitive ratings, such as CNN This Morning and Who's Talking To Chris Wallace?

Another competitor, MSNBC, recently launched a new Sunday afternoon show with former White House press secretary Jen Psaki. Last week's premiere episode garnered nearly double the amount of viewers that CNN did. It further crept up on Fox News's audience numbers, with Psaki pulling an audience of 1,094,000 for MSNBC, compared to Fox News's 1,106,000.
Psaki bested Fox News for viewers in the coveted 25-54 age demographic that advertisers look for, with 137,000 viewers to Fox News's 123,000.
