The conservative Club for Growth announced on Wednesday that its associated super PAC, partnered with Protect Freedom PAC, which is affiliated with Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), raised $13.55 million for Rep. Alex Mooney (R-WV) in his bid to replace Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV).

The club had originally pledged to spend at least $10 million to support the representative.

“The more West Virginia voters learn about Jim Justice, Mitch McConnell’s chosen candidate, the clearer it becomes that he is a big government RINO,” Club for Growth Action President David McIntosh said. “Alex Mooney has a strong track record of pushing back on Joe Biden’s radical policy agenda in Washington and is the only candidate in the race that is serious about promoting fiscal responsibility.”

Mooney isn't the only Republican challenger looking to unseat Manchin. Justice, the West Virginia governor, announced his candidacy in April after being courted by McConnell.

The announcement from Club for Growth comes after Justice's campaign revealed on Wednesday morning that it raised $935,035 from 5,526 individual donors. It added that 93% of the donors contributed less than $100.

Mooney boasts the approval of more conservative-leaning senators, including Paul and Sens. Mike Lee (R-UT) and Ted Cruz (R-TX). However, the National Republican Senatorial Committee and the Senate Leadership Fund, McConnell’s PAC, spent several months courting Justice to enter the race.

"Gov. Justice has received tremendous support from West Virginians and those who have confidence in his leadership and conservative record of achievements in West Virginia,” Justice campaign manager Roman Stauffer said of his second quarter numbers on Wednesday. “In only 64 days, with no prior federal fundraising experience, Gov. Justice raised nearly $1 million and continues to be the strongest Republican candidate for U.S. Senate in West Virginia.”

As the fight intensifies between Republican contenders, Manchin has yet to announce a bid for reelection to his Senate seat. Some have speculated that the centrist Democrat could launch a third-party presidential bid with the national movement No Labels.

The movement's honorary co-chair will speak at a "Common Sense town hall," the group recently announced, which will take place on Monday at Saint Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire.

Manchin recently said, “Everything is on the table. Nothing is off the table," when asked about a third-party bid.
