During the Congressional Baseball Game at Nationals Park, eight people jumped out on the field in a demonstration against fossil fuels.
Almost immediately, they were tackled by U.S. Capitol Police and security.
The protesters wore shirts that read “END FOSSIL FUELS.” No players were hurt in the storming of the field.
The demonstration came after the climate change group Climate Defiance, a youth-led activist organization, warned that they planned to stage a protest at the north gate of Nationals Park with the goal of shutting down the game.

It was unclear whether those who stormed the field were affiliated with Climate Defiance.
Police have since removed the eight disrupters from the game, and the game resumed. However, authorities stood around the perimeter of the outfield to ensure the safety of the players.
