There is one day remaining for people affected by telemarketing calls to file a claim in a $9.75 million class action settlement with Freedom Financial Network.

A lawsuit was filed by a group of those affected, claiming the telemarketing calls violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. Freedom Financial Network and the other defendants have denied any wrongdoing but agreed to this settlement to resolve the matter. The deadline for affected people to file a claim is Saturday.

The defendants in the settlement include Freedom Financial Network, Freedom Debt Relief, Fluent, and Lead Science.

To qualify for the settlement, records from the defendants must show that an applicant received a phone call from them from May 17, 2017, through April 17, 2018. The amount an affected person will receive from the payment will depend on the number of people who file a claim. The estimated amount a person with a valid claim will receive is between $60 and $170.

The final approval hearing for the settlement has been scheduled by the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California for Feb. 20, 2024. At the hearing, affected people will be able to speak about the proposed settlement. Further information on the settlement, including how to file a claim, can be found on the court-authorized website.

A different class-action settlement with a deadline soon is for Capital One customers affected by a hack in which millions of customers' personal information was accessed. Affected Capital One customers have until Monday to claim a piece of that settlement.
