Shoppers may be eligible to claim a piece of a settlement from Walmart, up to $500, with the deadline six days away.
Walmart settled a class action lawsuit alleging that it had overcharged customers for products sold by weight, such as meat and fruit. Any customer who has documented proof that they bought packaged meat, poultry, pork, or seafood, sold by weight, from Oct. 19, 2018, through Jan. 19, 2024, is eligible for part of the settlement.
Those without documentation may still be eligible for smaller payouts of $10 to $25 if approved.
Customers who didn’t save their paper receipts can still find them through Walmart’s website, with certain information. Shoppers will need the date of the purchase, the ZIP code of the store, the receipt total, and the last four digits of the credit or debit card used.
The company pledged to pay shoppers 2% of the total amount spent on the upcharged products, with a cap of $500.

Walmart denies upcharging customers, but a spokesperson told MarketWatch that a settlement was the best way forward.
“We still deny the allegations, however we believe a settlement is in the best interest of both parties,” the spokesperson told the outlet. “We will continue providing our customers everyday low prices to help them save money on the products they want and need.”
