Former Gov. Chris Christie (R-NJ) said he will soon make a decision on whether to run for president in 2024 during an interview on conservative commentator Hugh Hewitt's radio show on Wednesday.

"I will make a decision in the next two weeks," Christie responded when Hewitt pressed him on his 2024 plans. Christie has been flirting with a 2024 run in recent weeks. He last ran for president in 2016 but dropped out of the race after finishing in a disappointing sixth place during the New Hampshire primary.

CHRIS CHRISTIE LAYS OUT THREE REQUIREMENTS TO LAUNCH HIS 2024 PRESIDENTIAL BID

Recently, Christie has attacked Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), a likely 2024 hopeful, for a feud with Disney. "I don't think Ron DeSantis is a conservative based on his actions towards Disney," Christie told Semafor in an interview last month.

He later followed up with three requirements for launching a presidential campaign in an interview with Politico. The requirements are that he needs to have something to say, has to have an intact personal life, and needs a viable path to victory. The latter point may be the hardest requirement to fill. The only candidate polling near former President Donald Trump is DeSantis.

Well known for his combative persona, Christie did not shy away from criticizing Trump on Hewitt's show. The former governor attacked Trump for indicating he may not appear on the Republican debate stage this year.

"There should be as many as we can have. They should be as open format as they can be to allow for follow-ups, to not allow people to give sound-bite-y answers that nobody believes will solve any problems," Christie said. "And anybody who’s serious about wanting to be president of the United States should be on the stage for every one of them."

"And to the extent that President Trump doesn’t want to participate in them, people should wonder why. And I think it’s because he doesn’t have a lot of serious answers for the problems that are facing the country right now. All he wants to do is go back and re-prosecute the 2020 election because his feelings are hurt. He’s a child in that regard," Christie continued.

Christie also said Trump was "afraid" to appear on the debate stage against "people who are serious."
