Former Republican New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie says he is concerned about former President Donald Trump's mental health after recent comments where Trump has called him a "crazed lunatic."
Christie, who worked with Trump several times during his presidency and claims he was offered a position in the Trump White House, said that the former president's conduct is "sad" while speaking on Newsmax's Eric Bolling The Balance on Wednesday.

“When he says stuff like that about somebody who supported him in 2016, prepared him for the debates with Hillary Clinton, supported him in 2020, and prepared him for the debates with Joe Biden, if I was so useless, and dumb, and deranged, how did all that stuff happen?” Christie said. “It’s sad. He’s under a lot of stress and a lot of pressure and saying these things makes me really concerned for his mental health."
Christie, who has been a fierce Trump critic since the aftermath of the 2020 election, was responding to Trump attacking him earlier in the day on Hugh Hewitt's radio show.
"I think he’s not a very smart person. I think he’s a very disturbed person. He and maybe deranged Jack Smith should get together for dinner. I think Chris is a very disturbed person. I know him very well," Trump said on the radio show on Wednesday.
