Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie struck back at fellow presidential contender Donald Trump's earlier jabs at him regarding his weight.
Christie said that the former president "should take a look in the mirror every once in a while," while responding to the criticism on Fox News Channel's Media Buzz.

"What? Like he’s some Adonis? Please. There are tens of millions of Americans who, like me, struggle with my weight. I continue to struggle, I continue to try to do better and so do they, and what’s that got to do with my competence for office? I ran the governorship in New Jersey for eight years, I think, in an energetic, successful way, responded to Hurricane Sandy working 20 hours a day for weeks. I don’t know what his point is," Christie said.
"You know what it is? It’s a bully on the schoolyard who teases you and makes fun of you. But here’s my message to him, I don’t care what he says about me, and I don’t care what he thinks about me, and he should take a look in the mirror every once in a while, maybe he’d drop the weight thing off his list of criticisms," he added.
Christie has been a vocal critic of Trump since he entered the Republican primary earlier this month. Trump also recently called Christie someone with "a lot of hatred," who he claims he "never trusted."
While speaking at the Faith and Freedom Coalition conference in Washington, D.C., earlier this weekend, Christie received some boos from the crowd for calling out Trump's unwillingness "to take responsibility for any of the mistakes that were made."

"You can boo all you want, but here's the thing: Our faith teaches us that people have to take responsibility for what they do. People have to stand up and take accountability for what they do," Christie said in response to the boos during the speech Friday, earning applause from members of the audience.
Trump leads the GOP presidential field, with Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) in second place, per the RealClearPolitics polling average. Christie is currently in a distant sixth place, according to the average.
