Automaker Chevrolet has unwrapped a new commercial for its 2023 holiday season, which doubles as a heartwarming Christmas short film.

The ad, titled "A Holiday to Remember," features a family gathering at their grandparents, though the grandmother is in another room away from the others. The grandfather explains to his daughter that his wife does not even remember his name on some days. This leads to one of the attendees, a young woman, deciding to take the grandmother out for a drive throughout the small town in a Chevrolet truck.

"Let's make today a good day," the woman tells the grandmother.

The two then drive throughout the town while John Denver's "Sunshine On My Shoulders" plays in the car. During their drive, the two visit the grandmother's childhood home, her high school, and a drive-in theater.

The woman explains to the grandmother at the drive-in that it is where the grandfather kissed his future wife, to which the grandmother remembers and says, "No, I kissed him." She then remembers her husband's name, Bill, and says they need to go home to see him.

Chevrolet worked on this ad together with the Alzheimer's Association, with Steve Majoros, head of marketing for Chevrolet, saying that automobiles have "a special place and kind of psyche of Americans," according to CarBuzz.

"We talked a lot about reminiscence therapy," Majoros said. "Not that it's a cure or a solve, but the power of music, the power of memories are things that can enable the person going through it to feel more comfortable — and the people that are the caregivers that are surrounding them to also feel more comfortable."

It is not the first year the automaker has released a memorable Christmas-themed commercial. In 2021, Chevrolet released an ad called "Holiday Ride," which was praised by many.
