Musician Cher is set to headline this year's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, which will be held on Thursday morning.
It follows the release of her new holiday album last week, simply titled "Christmas."

Cher, who is a known advocate for the LGBT community, is part of an overall effort to diversify the annual event, which has drawn the ire of the American Family Association's One Million Moms. The group warns that the parade will "potentially expose tens of millions of viewers at home to the liberal LGBTQ agenda" and asked readers to sign a petition stating that they will "not watch this indoctrination." As of Wednesday morning, the petition has over 40,000 signatures.
Last month, Cher stirred up a storm on social media when she said that she would leave the United States should former President Donald Trump become president again in 2024. The singer has been no stranger to voicing her distaste for Trump, stating in 2016 that she would "leave the planet" if he won the presidential race.
Besides Cher, other scheduled performers at this year's parade include Jon Batiste, Brandy, and the casts of a multitude of Broadway shows.

The parade will also debut seven new balloons and four new floats. Some of these new floats and balloons include Luffy from the anime One Piece, which recently got a live-action Netflix adaptation this year, as well as one based on the animated film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, which was released in August.
This year's parade will get an earlier start compared to previous years, starting at 8:30 a.m. EST rather than the typical 9 a.m. EST. The parade's starting point will remain unchanged, however, starting things off at 77th Street and Central Park West in New York.
