NextImg:‘Cheesy performance art’ of Democrats ‘obstructing’ ICE will continue: Joe Concha - Washington Examiner

The Washington Examiner’s Joe Concha said that New York City Comptroller Brad Lander’s arrest is just the latest instance of Democrats seeking a “rehearsed” arrest and predicted these efforts will only increase.

Lander, a mayoral candidate in New York City’s Democratic primary, was arrested less than a week after federal authorities forcibly removed Sen. Alex Padilla (D-CA) after he disrupted a press conference by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. Concha, a senior writer for the Washington Examiner, claimed that both Lander and Padilla “wanted” their arrests to happen, citing how Lander is struggling in polling data and the media would portray him as “a martyr” and “victim” from his arrest.

“Know this: almost all Democrats not named John Fetterman will now try to get themselves arrested too by obstructing and or assaulting federal officers, so they too can get a bunch of media attention and fundraise off of it as Senator Alex Padilla did five minutes after his arrest when he was released,” Concha said on Fox News’s Fox & Friends First. “This is cheesy performance art by Democrats. And remember, they’re doing this while preventing ICE from arresting those here illegally in the country for committing violent crimes.”

Concha predicted that instances of Democrats trying to get arrested will continue “today, tomorrow, next week.” He added that the arrests “plays to the far Left” of their voting base. However, he also claimed that “most Americans” recognize that these acts are not about lawmakers expressing concern over “immigrant rights.”

WHO IS BRAD LANDER – THE NYC MAYORAL CANDIDATE ARRESTED BY ICE?

On Monday, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy warned that any cities attempting to thwart Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s deportation efforts risk having his department “forfeit the funding” to them. Duffy’s warning comes after President Donald Trump called for expanded ICE raids throughout sanctuary cities, including New York City, Los Angeles, and Chicago.

ICE is also resuming operations targeting illegal immigrants working in the agriculture and hospitality industries, which rely heavily on migrant labor. DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin told the Washington Examiner that “there will be no safe spaces” for industries either harboring criminals or “purposely” attempting to undermine ICE’s efforts.
