Charlamagne tha God referred to President-elect Donald Trump’s recent sentencing as “political theater” that was “not a win” for Trump’s opponents.

Trump became the first president in history to reach convict status when Judge Juan Merchan sentenced him to an “unconditional discharge,” which did not include jail time. This sentencing also opened the door for Trump to appeal, which he has vowed to do since he was convicted on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records.

“What a waste of time. I mean, what a waste of time, pure political theater. They was never ever going to convict a former or sitting president of nothing,” Charlamagne said on Monday on his radio show, The Breakfast Club. “And what was even more ridiculous was watching, you know, liberals celebrate this. Like this is not a win. Who cares if you can call him a convicted felon when you still got to call him president for the next four years?”

Charlamagne then referred to Trump’s pending case of election interference in Georgia as “foolishness” and recommended Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis drop the case. She would be following in the footsteps of former special counsel Jack Smith, who dropped both his cases against Trump upon his winning the election.

Smith has since resigned from the Department of Justice. Meanwhile, in New York, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg already has one challenger ahead of his reelection in 2026

It cost New York City $50,000 every day to put on the trial in its 2nd District. The trial began and ended in 15 days.
