Billionaire and technology entrepreneur Elon Musk has seemingly added more fuel to the potential fight between him and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg a day after the latter told the public that it is "time to move on."
Zuckerberg's statement was posted to Threads, which is Meta's alternative to X, the social media outlet formerly known as Twitter. The statement on Threads was shared to X by users on social media, with Musk stating on Monday that he has accepted a challenge, though he did not specify what the challenge was.

"Knock, knock," Musk wrote on X. "Challenge accepted … open the door [Mark Zuckerberg]."

Musk added that Zuckerberg "might want some tea, so I brought the bags."
Prior to his "challenge accepted" message, Musk joked that Zuckerberg was chickening out of the fight and that he could not eat Chick-fil-A "because that would be cannibalism." Musk also said he could not wait to "bang on his door tomorrow."

Zuckerberg said in his Threads post that Musk "isn't serious" about making the fight happen, adding that Musk listed several reasons, such as saying "he needs surgery" and wanting to practice in Zuckerberg's backyard. He also said that going forward, he would "focus on competing with people who take the sport seriously."
In early August, Musk said the fight would be livestreamed to X. Musk also said that all proceeds generated from the fight would be donated to charity for veterans.

Musk's biographer, Walter Isaacson, said in July that the supposed cage fight between Musk and Zuckerberg is really just a metaphor for the pair's online battle between X and Threads. Isaacson added that an actual fight between the two men was unlikely and that Musk's attitude toward Zuckerberg is due to Musk's impulsive nature and "demon mode."
"He really loves it, and he loves putting out impulsive tweets," Isaacson said. "He loves the contentiousness of it. You know his favorite line in a movie is, 'Are you not entertained?', that final line of the Gladiator. And that's what [is] distinguishing Twitter, for better and for worse, against things like Threads."
