NextImg:Cardi B slams New York City budget cuts, says she won't endorse Biden in 2024

Musician Cardi B went viral Sunday night over statements she made live on social media, in which she harshly criticized both New York City and the United States government seeking to fund wars.

The rapper, who has been no stranger to discussing politics, filmed herself live on Instagram, during which she said she was "an angry a** b****" over New York City's massive $110 billion budget cut, which Mayor Eric Adams claimed was necessary after the city spent $1.45 billion addressing its migrant crisis. Cardi B claimed the budget cut would include a $5 million cut in the city's sanitation.

"A budget cut in sanitation," Cardi B said. "B****, we going to be drowning in rats. We're going to be drowning in f***ing rats!"

The artist also demanded that no politician send her a resume because she will not endorse any presidential candidates in 2024. In 2020, she endorsed then-presidential candidate Joe Biden against then-President Donald Trump.

"Yeah, Joe Biden's talking about, like, 'Yeah, we can fund two wars, we can fund two wars,' motherfer's talking about, 'We don't got it, but we got it,' like we're the greatest nation," Cardi B said. "No the f we're not! We're going through some s*** right now!"

Cardi B's criticism of the president and New York City's budget cuts come as the Biden administration is struggling to win over the younger vote in 2024, and recent polling data showed that 59% of voters under the age of 30 would rate the state of the economy as "poor." Another poll found that Trump, the likely 2024 Republican presidential nominee, would beat Biden within the margin of error in a 2024 matchup. A key finding in that data is that Trump won more support from voters between the ages of 18-34 than his successor.

Winning over the younger vote is a problem that both parties face, with some testing different strategies to reach the demographic, such as Republican candidate Vivek Ramaswamy using TikTok.

A recent report claimed that Biden's reelection team was considering using TikTok as a means to reach young voters. However, a senior communications adviser for Biden's campaign denied that, noting that "campaigns talk about a bunch of stuff," some of which the campaign does and some that it does not.
