Video game publisher Activision removed the likeness of popular streamer TimTheTatman from Call of Duty after he requested to have his "skin" removed from the game in solidarity with another popular streamer Nickmercs.

Nickmercs's likeness was removed from the game after he made homophobic remarks, according to a report.

CONGRESS CAN DO MORE TO PREVENT MEGAFIRES

"@NICKMERCS has been my friend for years- we went in getting our CoD operators together," TimTheTatman tweeted.

"It feels wrong for me to have mine and him no longer have his. In support of my friend, please remove the timthetatman bundle."

Activision, the company behind the popular Call of Duty series, complied with the streamer's request.

"At Tim's request, we have removed the TimTheTatman operator bundle from the Modern Warfare II and the Warzone store," a statement from company spokesman Neil Wood read.

Nickmercs had his "skin" removed after he came under fire for invoking a homophobic dog whistle during a stream, the report noted.

Following the incident, he apologized to anyone who might have been harmed by his actions.

"Friends are created in good times, but families are built through adversity," he tweeted.

"Appreciate all of you that have my back, understand my position as a new father & recognize the love I have for all. Ain't no hate in this heart. P&L."

In the wake of Activision's removal of Nickmercs's likeness, many on social media have come to the streamer's defense.

"Some advice for @CallofDuty Stay out of politics, and focus on fixing your disaster of a game," one Twitter user commented.

"There was a faster response to what @NICKMERCS said than anything your player base has been requesting for the last two years. GET YOUR HOUSE IN ORDER."

"Everyone should uninstall @CallofDuty from their machines @NICKMERCS did absolutely nothing wrong and CoD has decided to support groomers and pedophiles," another user tweeted.

"It's not about lgbt people it's about the pedophiles targeting kids in school and 'THEY need to stop targeting little kids.'"
