Caitlyn Jenner, transgender activist and former 2021 California gubernatorial recall candidate, blasted Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) for leading the state to “decline” and dismissed the Los Angeles fires as not an “unusual” occurrence.

Jenner moved to California in 1973 and has called the “decline” of the Golden State “very upsetting.”

“Boy, have I seen this state decline over the years. We are not gold. We are not silver. We’re not bronze. We don’t even make the finals anymore and that’s all because of politicians,” the former Olympian said on Fox News on Tuesday.

“What I think this fire is going to do,” the longtime Californian said. “It will show California’s political weaknesses and it will shine a very bright light on it. Light is good because it’s a disinfectant. We have so many issues here, mostly with the politicians.”

Jenner turned to Newsom’s leadership during the Southern California fires and disputed the governor’s efforts to downplay the leadership in managing the fires.

“Gavin Newsom said, ‘Oh but this is an unusual fire.’ No, it’s not,” the Malibu resident said. “It really isn’t.”

“I’ve lived in Malibu for 48 years. I have fought two fires around my house,” Jenner continued. “I have had so many fires that have come through properties. It happens all the time.”

In a social media post on Tuesday, Jenner revealed how fires can be managed in California.

“My 13 acre property in Malibu backs up to CA state land (circled in red). Notice the difference between my grounds keeping and the states? No under brush or forest management by the state on their lands- providing a plethora of fuel for wildfires. No underbrush on my land,” the celebrity wrote on X with a photo of mountainside that was clear of under brush.

Jenner went on to explain how the politicians need to be “on the offense” with the fires and the water problems.

“They just have their priorities in the wrong spot,” the former political candidate said during the television interview.

“I hope the people of California can really change their thinking. And I think what’s happening [with] this fire is going to change their thinking. It’s things like this that have to happen,” Jenner said.

The former athlete will be attending President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration.
