C-SPAN is adding a new televised book club that will feature the nation’s top authors and policymakers interviewed at Washington’s iconic libraries, the latest programming update from CEO Sam Feist.

It will be hosted by the city’s top philanthropist, David Rubenstein, the cofounder of the Carlyle Group, the owner of the Baltimore Orioles, and the funder of renovations to the Washington Monument and Thomas Jefferson Memorial.

His first guest is scheduled to be Supreme Court Associate Justice Amy Coney Barrett, and others include author John Grisham and chef and World Central Kitchen founder José Andrés.

America’s Book Club will be in addition to the public affairs network’s long-running Booknotes program, started by C-SPAN founder Brian Lamb.

“Books provide the foundation of American ideals, progress, and vision,” said Rubenstein, author of his own book of interviews, The American Story: Interviews with Master Historians. “Since I was a youngster growing up in Baltimore, books have fueled my imagination and knowledge. I look forward to sharing these ideas with others,” he added.

Feist, who recently added CeaseFire to C-SPAN’s nonpartisan lineup, said, “We are proud to launch a flagship series featuring guests of the highest stature in American letters and public thought, interviewed by David Rubenstein, a lover of history and an engaging interviewer. This program is a landmark cultural initiative designed to inspire, inform, and engage viewers with the ideas and thought leaders shaping our nation’s future.”
