At least four spectators were injured Saturday when a bull jumped the fence at an Oregon rodeo and began striking onlookers.

The incident happened around 10 p.m., and harrowing footage captured the moment the animal named Party Bus leaped the arena’s barricade at the 84th Sisters Rodeo and charged up the bleachers.

An emergency response was soon called for by the announcer, according to a report citing the Sisters Rodeo Association.

“It’s the first time we’ve ever had this happen in Sisters Rodeo history. I talked to our Scott contractors that have that bull, and they said it’s just highly unusual, very rare, they have seen very little of this in their entire career,” Brian Witt, the vice president of Sisters Rodeo, said, according to the report.

“They’ll see it on their own farm once in a while, just in their own pens, but never had this happen at a rodeo, it’s just very, very rare.”

The incident occurred during the final event of the night, and Witt said responding personnel managed to contain Party Bus safely in a holding pen.

However, before Party Bus could be controlled, it charged multiple people in the area around the arena, footage posted to social media showed.

No one was specifically targeted by Party Bus, Witt said.

“He was just a little scared. He wasn’t out to try and hit anybody,” according to Witt. “He was just trying to make it back to the herd and back in the chutes, just getting back with all the rest of the bulls. He was outside the arena, so it was a different situation for him.”

“It was remarkably fortunate that there were no additional problems. Our first responders were just remarkable in terms of being able to give immediate care. And the cowboys were just so quick to be right on top of, you know, a pretty volatile situation.”

The final show for the 2024 Sisters Rodeo was held on Sunday.

“We wish the best to all affected,” Sisters Rodeo said in a statement. “The safety of our fans is our highest priority, and we appreciate their support.”

Saturday’s incident in Oregon came roughly a week after a San Antonio bull rider died after being crushed below a bull during a competition.
