Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito and his wife, Martha-Ann Alito, are in the news once again for the crime of holding and expressing personal opinions.
During a reception for the Supreme Court Historical Society last week, leftist journalist and documentary filmmaker Lauren Windsor recorded her conversations with the justice and his wife. Windsor, who has the description “relentless truth pirate” in her X bio, portrayed herself as a conservative, Christian ally and a concerned citizen during the encounters. Her supposed bombshell reporting reveals what we already knew: Justice Alito and his wife are conservatives.
On X, Windsor released what she describes as “exclusive undercover audio” of her separate dialogues with Samuel Alito and Martha-Ann Alito. When Windsor brought up polarization and negotiating with the Left, Justice Alito replied, in part, “One side or the other is going to win. I don’t know. I mean, there can be a way of working, a way of living together peacefully. But it’s difficult, you know, because there are differences on fundamental things that can’t really be compromised.”
Windsor discusses fighting and returning the country to a place of godliness. Alito agrees.
Her encounter with Martha-Ann Alito is far more animated. The justice’s wife says, “Psalm 27 is my psalm,” adding, “The Lord is my God and my rock. Of whom shall I be afraid? Nobody.”
Martha-Ann Alito mentions how her husband doesn’t control her, but she defers to him and longs for a time when she can finally get back at her detractors. She says, “Who cares? I don’t need their approval for anything in my life. I need nothing from them.” Regarding the flag controversy, she says, in part: “You know what I want? I want a Sacred Heart of Jesus flag because I have to look across the lagoon at the Pride flag for the next month.”
Hell hath no fury like Pride flags scorned.
The leftist media can barely contain their collective excitement at the news that Samuel and Martha-Ann Alito are who we’ve always known them to be. This reaction says so much. A headline at Rolling Stone announces, “Martha-Ann Alito Condemns Pride Flags, the Left, and the Media.” At Forbes, the headline reads, “Martha-Ann Alito’s Anti-Pride Flag Comments: The Controversy Explained.” And at the Nation, a headline reads, “Martha-Ann Alito Can’t Wait to Let Her Freak Flag Fly” with this description below: “The Supreme Court justice’s wife turns out to be a far-right Catholic crackpot with a deep vindictive streak. She brings vergogna—shame—upon her family and the court.”
It would all be quite significant if we didn’t already know that Samuel and Martha-Ann Alito are religious conservatives who, like everyone else, have their own opinions about the world. If anything, the legacy media are admitting they are not paying attention. It’s been apparent from the start that two different ideological blocs make up the high court.
In yet another desperate search for something to latch onto, the media prove the point that diversity of thought is entirely unacceptable to them. If a left-leaning justice or his wife privately expresses opinions, leftists view that as refreshing. After all, justices are people, too. But if a right-leaning justice or his wife does the same, it’s an outrage. Surely, impartiality must be in jeopardy. It’s the same song and dance we’ve seen countless times before. Leftist hypocrisy is on full display.
Martha-Ann Alito is not a member of the high court. In fact, she’s a completely different person than her husband. Even Samuel Alito himself is a unique individual with private leanings and thoughts on various subjects. None of us is aware of the full scope of either of their personal opinions. But what we do know is not controversial. And frankly, it’s old news.
Most importantly, there is simply no indication that Justice Alito is interpreting the law incorrectly. His interpretation differs from all his fellow justices, including Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan, and Ketanji Brown Jackson. But unlike Alito, the latter three aren’t subject to a “gotcha” by the media. That’s only reserved for the conservative-leaning justices appointed by Republicans.

Sarah Isgur of the Dispatch summed up the situation best in a post on X: “While not asking any questions about the law or the role of the courts or eliciting any relevant information, [Windsor] managed to make it less likely that justices will attend public events or engage with people they don’t already know. Congrats or something.”
Windsor and her media cheerleaders are certainly celebrating something. But the rest of us are just not sure what it is.
