A faith-based children's book publisher aims to offer families an alternative to Elf on a Shelf with a new Christmas book offered just in time for the holiday.
Mouse in the House is a Christmas book from publisher Brave Books, which aims to help teach children the importance of wholesome Christmas traditions and to give them a chance to practice kindness and giving, the publisher said. Brave Books is publishing the book because it claims that the Christmas season is "being hijacked by people with a political agenda."

"Mr. Mouse is here for the holidays, and he's sure to bring each family new traditions that are much more meaningful and memorable than the ones being pushed upon us by the 'woke' activists of the world," Brave Books's spokesman Zac Bell said.
Brave Books's concerns about companies targeting Christmas with a "woke" agenda stem from recent products released that support the LGBT community. Among the examples the publisher cited was retail giant Target selling nutcrackers painted in rainbow colors and a Santa Claus statue holding a pride flag.
Mouse in the House, which is available for purchase, also includes a plush toy of Mr. Mouse, the main character of the story.
Kirk Cameron, an actor and children's book author, praised Brave Books for its publishing and preserving "the traditions we know and love."
"If we, as parents and grandparents, long for a return to wholesome, God-honoring values, then we must stop complaining about the culture. Instead, we must lead by example and show our kids and grandkids what genuine faith and moral integrity look like. Be brave and start creating the culture you want for your children," Cameron told the Washington Examiner.
"In a world full of Targets and Bud Lights, support companies like Brave Books to help preserve traditional American values," Cameron added.

Trent Talbot, the CEO of Brave Books, stated that the book initially sold out in only three hours and has become the publisher's "most popular product to date." He claimed the book's success shows the demand for "traditional family entertainment that reinforces Christian values."
Brave Books recently partnered with Citizens Defending Freedom, a nonprofit group in Florida, to promote a fundraiser to provide family-friendly books to school libraries. The publisher also partnered with Cameron to start a first-of-its-kind book fair to contrast the massive monopoly Scholastic has on book fairs, the publisher said.
